Welcome to RC-Sailboats.com! RC Sailboats are great fun. Building RC Sailboat kits is enjoyable because you are able to see your creation come to life. After building your model, they are even more fun because you are able to see what you have created work in the water.

The first time I sailed an RC sailboat was when I went to the model boat pond in San Diego, California. The gentleman that was controlling it was with a friend and I watched as they did a pseudo race back and forth across the pond. I immediately knew it was something I wanted to get into. I asked them where they got their boats and which boats they would recommend for a beginner. After watching them for about a half hour, one of the gentleman let me control the boat when it was in the middle of the pond so I would avoid hitting the bottom. After steering it around for a bit, I handed the controls back because I was afraid I was getting to close to the shoreline.
The next day I went and purchased a mini-soling boat by Victor models. It had a big enough hull to get my clumsy fingers in for radio installation and was the cheapest kit I could find. The worst part of building the boat was trying to install the lead in the keel. I was constantly worried that I didnt have it fitted correctly and it would end up sinking to the bottom. Fortunately, that didnt happen and it was a trusty first boat.
When I finished constructng the boat, I took it down to the San Diego Boat pond and was suprised to find an large group of people that were racing their RC Sailboats. One of the members of the group saw I had a boat in my car and said that I should go give it a whirl at one end of the pond. After checking to make sure no other sailers were on the same radio frequency, I turned it on and gently set it in the water. It was such a great feeling to see it start to sail away. I stayed near the shore and made sure to stay out of the way of the racers. The time was flying and before you knew it, the sun was setting.
Since that first boat, I have built and sailed about five more, and this site is for information and reviews on some of the lessons I have learned along the way
